Fishing Report:
Upper Bay: Perch fishing has been good using spinners in the shallows and bloodworms, fishbites, and grass shrimp over oyster beds on bottom rigs, sabikis, and jigging sabikis. Striped bass are being caught in the shallows near rocks during the mornings and evenings and can also be caught in schools busting on the service with spoons and paddle tails. Lower Bay: Speckled trout and redfish are being caught on drop-offs, grass flats, and marshes with paddle tails, jerk baits, twitch baits, popping corks, and more. Cobia can be caught sight casting with bucktails or chumming with live eels. Finally, Spanish mackerel can be caught by casting spoons and metals when they are busting on the surface or by trolling spoons on planner boards. Freshwater: The snakehead and bowfin bite has been decent with chatter baits, spinners, paddle tails, and frogs in the rivers and lakes they reside in. Largemouth bass fishing has been slow due to the extreme heat so its time to go finesse and deep to catch largemouth. You can use deep diving crank baits, ned rigs, big worms, and other soft plastics to catch them. Progress Report: We have worked for the past few weeks editing and gaining footage to complete 5 videos. We spent a week in Whitestone VA fishing, filming, and researching the effectiveness of lures. Videos will soon be posted here: Episode 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHXtoJMyC5E Episode 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTkFVpgez-Y&t=193s Episode 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nsj-dUw_3tM

Filming/production process update:
-Over the past two weeks, we have been accumulating footage over a variety of different species including redfish, speckled trout, perch, and bowfin. We have been busy working through this footage, editing, and sorting clips to use for future videos. Within the next two days, we plan on releasing two videos (bowfin/perch). Within the next week, we plan to release 3 more videos (cobia/redfish/speckled trout) as we continue to utilize the warm weather and relatively calm water. Fishing report: Upper Bay After the two-week shutdown on striped bass the season is open, and the stripers are munching. You can catch them from jigging the bridge to throwing top water in the shallows. Bottom fishing can also make for a fun day with plenty of white perch, croaker, and spot by using bottom rigs. Also, in the shallows around docks and fallen trees you can use spinners and shad darts to catch white perch. Lower Bay Submerged grass and flats in the lower bay act as the home for many inshore species like redfish and speckled trout, which love swimbaits, topwater, and shrimp imitations. There are also Cobia to catch chumming or sight casting with bucktails. Furthermore, trolling spoons can lead to plenty of delicious Spanish mackerel. Freshwater Snakehead, Largemouth Bass, and Bowfin are all awesome species to target in local ponds, rivers, and lakes. Blackwater Refuge is a very productive spot for snakehead. Minnows, chatter baits, and frogs are great ways to target snakehead and also work for bass and bowfin. In the early morning and sunset bass will push shallow, but during the hottest days they will push deep. Deep diving crankbaits and large worm imitations on Texas rigs are a great way to target deep largemouth bass. Our first video in our Summer Series is officially complete and can be accessed in the link below.

Through the on the water research conducted on the day of filming we were able to encapsulate the true effectiveness of both topwater poppers and paddle-tail swim baits on rockfish. The process begins!!!!
-Over the past two weeks, the dynamic 2FellasFishing duo has begun our recording and editing of the first video within our multi-part series. This video focuses on rockfish in the Chesapeake Bay and multiple methods to target these fish. Our video includes cinematic drone footage, insight on lure characteristics, and fish catching action throughout the span of the video. Our rockfish video will be completed soon. Enjoy a sneak preview while you wait!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5TZXlY5LCY Fishing Report: -The Chesapeake Bay rock fishing is holding in a similar pattern from our last post on June 15th. In the morning, our main bites came in shallow water on poppers and swimbaits in the afternoon. White remains the optimal popper color, as demonstrated by more aggressive strikes and a larger quantity of bites with white poppers.
Main Takeaways (Lure Development): -White poppers for topwater rockfish -3/8 oz to 3/4 oz jigheads with 5 inch chartreuse swimbait for rockfish -Small micros jigs for small largemouth bass -Any color spinners for perch |
